Public
relations
Over our twenty years experience Main Street
has built up excellent relationships with
local press and public bodies. When it comes
to public relations, experience counts.
Case study: Camerata Ireland Festival at
Clandeboye.
Every year Barry Douglas and his orchestra
Camerata Ireland hold a festival at Clandeboye.
The hall in which the concerts are held
is very small, allowing a maximum audience
of 150. This creates the exceptionally intimate
atmosphere for which the festival is renowned.
The number of available seats cannot be
increased without losing atmosphere. An
advertising campaign to sell only 150 tickets
would not be cost effective. Public relations
and word of mouth is therefore the only
tool that can efficiently be used for the
job.
This year in the run-up to the festival
Main Street had the festival on radio three
times (with a follow-up twenty minute programme
on Radio Three), in two half pages of the
Belfast Telegraph, a half page in the Irish
News, two half pages in the NewsLetter and
extensive coverage in the press local to
Clandeboye. All concerts sold out at minimum
promotion cost.
